| THE TOWN OF MATTAPOISETT
Mattapoisett, meaning "A Place of Rest" is a year round,
coastal community rich in New England tradition and heritage.
Its winter population of over 6,000 increases to about 8,000
in the summer months. Founded in 1857, this historic whaling
and shipbuilding town maintains its character and charm throughout
the year.
Mattapoisett is located in the heart of Buzzard's Bay making
it convenient to most of the popular cruising destinations
in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
There area four churches in the town: Mattapoisett Congregational,
St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Phillip's Episcopalian
Church, and Society of Friends Quaker Meeting House.
