Mattapoisett, meaning "A Place of Rest" is a year round, coastal community
rich in New England tradition and heritage. Its winter population of over
6,000 increases to about 8,000 in the summer months. Founded in 1857,
this historic whaling and shipbuilding town maintains its character and
charm throughout the year.
